The goal of the Institute for Strategic Foresight is to serve the Church and missions community with scenarios for the future, aimed at alerting them of new opportunities that will enable them to reap a larger and more fruitful harvest among the nations.
The Arab Spring revolution, and the ensuing wars in Libya, Yemen,and Syria, are examples of how unprepared churches and missions organisations have been in responding to new opportunities. Within the mission community, there was no one who predicted the likelihood that a revolution would open the door to one of the greatest opportunities this generation will ever see, to share the Gospel with Muslims..
As a direct result of the Arab Spring, more unbelievers are open to hearing the Gospel of Jesus Christ than ever before. Furthermore, because of the more than five million refugees that were forced to flee Syria, more Muslims are now able to hear the Gospel in countries where it is not illegal to convert to Christianity. This has made it easier, and safer for missionaries to share the Gospel . Yet, the Church was not prepared for these opportunities.
Imagine if Scenario Planning was able to prepare missions organisations and churches for what has now turned out to be one of the greatest opportunities to share the Gospel? The Church would have been able to respond quickly and as a result, the harvest of new believers would have been greater.
